Summarize this article with:
Sleeping on the water is the most searched part of a Khao Sok trip, and also the part where the offers differ most. The raft houses sit on Cheow Lan Lake inside the national park, and they are reached by boat from the pier rather than by road.
Because these are commercial offers, prices and inclusions change between operators and seasons. We do not publish a nightly rate here. What we can do is explain the types, name the operators most often searched for, and show what to compare.
The raft-by-raft comparison below covers Panvaree and The Greenery, 500 Rai Floating Resort, 360 Issara Floating Resort, Praiwan Raft House and Smiley Lake House, based on the operators' own pages. To plan the night itself, from the dam to the morning mist, see the Khao Sok itinerary.

How a night on the lake works

The raft houses float on the lake, and you travel to them by boat. Since the lake is a separate fee zone with its own entrance, the boat, the entrance fee and the pier charge all belong in your budget: the Cheow Lan Lake guide lists the costs we could confirm, such as the pier cleaning charge of about 40 THB per person and the park's long-tail boat rate from 1,800 THB.
Many stays are sold as a package that bundles the night with meals and the boat. Compare packages on what they include rather than on the headline price.
Budget rafts versus comfort and luxury rafts
The price level column uses a relative scale, $ for the cheapest to $$$$ for the most expensive, because real prices change. Operators are named because travellers search for them; check their current offer before you book.
| Type | Price level | What to expect | Names you will see |
|---|---|---|---|
| Budget raft house | $ | Simple raft: a mattress, shared bathrooms, package with night, meals and boat | Smiley Lake House |
| Comfort and luxury raft | $$$ to $$$$ | Individual bungalows, private bathroom, sometimes air conditioning | 500 Rai, Panvaree, 360 Issara |
Raft by raft: Panvaree, 500 Rai, 360 Issara, Praiwan and Smiley
Facts below come from each operator's own pages, read on 29 September 2026. The level column keeps the relative $ scale, and no nightly rate is published here. Where a page does not say something (Wi-Fi at Panvaree, for example), the table says so instead of guessing: ask before you book.
| Raft | Level | What you buy | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Panvaree Resort | $$$ to $$$$ | Floating bungalows, a floating restaurant and private piers, with lake and cliff views | Power, Wi-Fi and bathroom details are not stated on the pages we read. One of the 12 raft operators authorised by the national parks department, according to The Greenery's own page |
| Panvaree The Greenery | $$$ to $$$$ | The newer, eco-designed zone: Superior rooms and a two-level Family House with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, sold as all-inclusive packages of stay, meals and boat | Capacity is limited to 30 to 35 guests a day, so it fills early |
| 500 Rai Floating Resort | $$$$ | Floating rooms that all face east, so the sun rises at the foot of the bed; deluxe rooms, villas and family villas near the restaurant and pool, or suites on a separate platform | No Wi-Fi and no mobile network on site; no pets and no outside food. Suite Zone guests reach the restaurant by boat or kayak |
| 360 Issara Floating Resort | $$$ to $$$$ | A high-end floating resort with air-conditioned rooms, a private bathroom and a lake or mountain view | Wi-Fi is not stated. Rated 4.7/5 on Tripadvisor (43 reviews) and 9.1/10 on Booking.com (116 reviews) on 29/09/2026 |
| Praiwan Raft House | $ | 30 floating bungalows linked by wooden walkways, built of bamboo with thatched roofs, fan-cooled (no air conditioning), with two restaurants, near the Coral Cave | Electricity runs from 18:00 to 07:00 only; bathrooms are shared depending on the package |
| Smiley Lake House | $ | The lake house of Khao Sok Smiley Bungalows & Lakehouse, the cheapest combination for a night on the water | Budget type: expect a simple room and shared bathrooms, and confirm what the package includes |

What you actually buy at each raft
- Panvaree Resort: the classic raft-resort layout, with bungalows, a floating restaurant and private piers. It suits guests who want a proper bungalow rather than a mattress on a raft.
- The Greenery (Panvaree): the smaller, quieter and more recent zone, designed with the environment in mind. The all-inclusive packages bundle the stay, the meals and the boat, and the cap of 30 to 35 guests a day is the main reason to book ahead.
- 500 Rai Floating Resort: the "disconnect to reconnect" raft. With no Wi-Fi or mobile network, the days revolve around the lake: an early sightseeing cruise from 07:00 to 08:00, cave treks (Pa Ka Rang, Pra Kai Petch and Nam Ta Lu are named), the Tarzan viewpoint hike and a wildlife safari from 17:00 to 18:30. Nothing is guaranteed to be seen, as wildlife is hard to spot.
- 360 Issara Floating Resort: the comfort pick, with air conditioning and a private bathroom, and the one with a review track record you can check on Tripadvisor and Booking.com before you decide.
- Praiwan Raft House: the budget raft with the most activities in the package. The typical one-night formula includes three meals, a shared boat transfer with boarding between 11:30 and 12:30, a Coral Cave programme, a jungle walk, bamboo rafting, a boat trip to Khao Sam Kloe, free kayaks and floats and accident insurance; two nights means six meals. It advertises the only raft-house yoga class on the water.
- Smiley Lake House: the entry-level way onto the water, and a useful pair with the village bungalows of the same operator if you split your stay between the village and the lake (see where to stay).

Who should choose which raft?
- Couples and honeymooners: 500 Rai for sunrise views and no signal, 360 Issara for air conditioning. Both are at the top of the price scale.
- Families: the two-level Family House at The Greenery, or the family villas and suites at 500 Rai. Check bathrooms and beds when you book.
- Travellers who want comfort and reviews to lean on: 360 Issara.
- Small, quiet and all-inclusive: The Greenery, if its 30 to 35 places a day are not taken.
- Budget and activity-packed: Praiwan, accepting fans, shared bathrooms and electricity only from 18:00 to 07:00.
- The cheapest night on the water: Smiley Lake House.
- Wi-Fi needed: none of the sources we read promise it. 500 Rai has none, so confirm with the other rafts before you book.

Which one should you choose?
- Tight budget, happy with basics: a budget raft house. Expect shared bathrooms and a simple setting.
- Couples, honeymooners, or anyone who wants privacy: a comfort or luxury raft, with an individual bungalow and a private bathroom.
- Families: check bathroom arrangements and what the package includes before deciding, as these differ most between the two types.
- Not sure yet: book an overnight tour, which handles the boat and the practical side, and read its inclusions.
Overnight tours on the lake
If you would rather not arrange the boat and the night separately, the tours below cover the main formats: a standard overnight stay, an overnight with the Coral Cave, and a private two-day tour. Their prices and reviews are shown live on the partner's site. The Khao Sok itinerary shows how a night on the lake fits into two or three days.
Booking checklist
- Is the lake entrance fee and the pier charge included, or paid on top?
- Are meals and the boat transfer included, and from which pier or pick-up point?
- Is the bathroom private or shared, and is there air conditioning?
- What happens in bad weather, and what is the cancellation policy?
Prices are not published here
Raft-house prices and inclusions are commercial offers that change with the operator and the season, and we do not publish a guaranteed nightly rate. Compare live offers, and for visa, health or safety rules use the official Thai and home-country sources.
