Summarize this article with:

Most Khao Sok visitors book at least one excursion, because the lake, the caves and the night walks all need a guide, a boat or both. The cards below are the tours we compared, all real listings on GetYourGuide.

Prices, ratings and dates are shown on the listing itself and change often, so this page does not repeat them. Use the guide below to pick a format first, then open the card to check the current price.

How to choose

Three questions settle most choices.

  • Where are you sleeping? If you stay in the village of Khao Sok, the lake is a separate outing: the lake entrance is roughly 65–67 km from the village and has its own fees. See the lake guide for what the pier and the boat cost.
  • One night on the water or none? A night in a raft house gives you the lake early and late, when day boats are not there. The floating bungalows guide explains the types of raft and what a night includes.
  • What season is it? The rainy season runs from late April to early December, and some caves close when the water rises. The best time to visit page has the month-by-month detail.

Common mistakes when booking

  • Assuming the park ticket and the lake ticket are the same. The land zone and the lake zone are two entrances with separate fees (see the national park guide).
  • Booking a jungle walk or a cave for a rainy day. Nam Talu cave is closed in the rainy season, and Bang Hman cave is off limits if rain is forecast.
  • Expecting a wildlife sighting to be included. The animals are hard to see under the canopy, and no tour can promise one.
  • Choosing a tour only by its price, without checking what is included: transfers, meals and the park fees are listed on each listing.

Khao Sok tours: common questions

It depends on how long you have. For one day, a full-day boat trip on Cheow Lan Lake is the usual choice. For two days, an overnight raft-house tour adds the lake at dawn. See the lake guide before you choose.

Yes. Day tours and private long-tail boat trips exist, and the pier is a separate entrance from the village. Tours that start from Phuket also include the lake.

Beyond the first section of trail, up to the Bang Hua Raet waterfall about 3 km from the headquarters, a guide is required. Long hikes, night safaris and caves also need a guide.

The listings we chose are titled as ethical care visits and an experience with a workshop. We have not visited them, so read each listing and its reviews on GetYourGuide before booking.

The dry season, from January to March or April, is the easiest for trails. The quietest months are May, June, September and October. Details are in the seasonal guide.
