Who is responsible

Khao-Sok.com is an independent travel guide written and published by Kylian Dev, who is the controller of the data described here. Contact: contact page or contact@khao-sok.com.

The short version

• The site has no user accounts, no comment form, no newsletter and no contact form.
• No audience-measurement or advertising tool is active on the site today, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
• Partner links lead to third-party sites with their own privacy policies (see below).

What is collected when you visit

Server logs. Like any website, the hosting provider receives technical data when your browser requests a page: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and browser and device information. This is needed to deliver the site and keep it secure. The site is hosted on Vercel, which may process this data outside the European Union; its own documentation describes the safeguards it applies.

Language choice. The site is available in English and German. It does not choose a language from your browser or location. When you open a page, the site sets a functional cookie named NEXT_LOCALE that holds the language of that page (en or de); it is a session cookie, and when we suggest the German version of a page, dismissing the suggestion is remembered in your browser's local storage. Neither is used to identify you or to track you.

Audience measurement. We do not currently run any analytics tool on this site. If we add one, we will name it on this page before it goes live and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.

Third parties on this site

GetYourGuide script. Pages that show tours load a script from GetYourGuide, our tour partner. Loading it means your browser connects to GetYourGuide, which may collect technical data and use cookies under its own privacy policy.

Partner links. When you click a booking link (GetYourGuide, Trip.com, 12Go, or the cashback partner), you are redirected through our own /go address to the partner's site. The address we pass to the partner includes an identifier of the page you came from, not your name or any personal data; we do not store the click. Once you are on the partner's site, its own privacy policy applies. The links are marked as sponsored: see our affiliate disclosure.

Trip planner. The plan you build is stored in the address of the page, so you can share it, and is not sent to us.

If you email us

If you write to contact@khao-sok.com, we receive your email address and whatever you tell us, and we use it only to answer you or correct the guide. We keep the message for as long as needed for that purpose and do not pass it on.

Legal basis (GDPR)

• Server logs and security: our legitimate interest in delivering and securing the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Emails you send us: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you ask us to take (Article 6(1)(f) and (b) GDPR).
• Anything that would need consent (for example, analytics cookies if we ever add them): your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time. None is used today.

Your rights

You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. To use any of these rights, write to contact@khao-sok.com. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority of your country of residence.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts collecting anything new, this page will be updated before the change goes live, and the date at the top will change.
